Preparation: this chemical is prepared by reaction of Carbonyl dichloride with 2-Methoxy-ethanol. The reaction needs solvent Toluene. The reaction temperature is 0 °C- 20 °C. The yield is about 50%.

Uses: it is used to produce other chemicals. For example, it is used to produce Methoxyethyl 2, 3, 5-tri-O-benzoyl-β-D-ribofuranosyl carbonate .This reaction needs reagent Triethylamine and solvent CH2Cl2. Other condition of this reaction is reaction time of 30 minutes at 0 °C. The yield is about 89%.
