Timentin is maily used for treating infections caused by certain bacteria. As a penicillin antibiotic. It works by blocking the growth of the bacteria's cell wall, resulting in the death of the bacteria.

How does it work?

Timentin
injection contains two active ingredients, ticarcillin and clavulanic acid. Ticarcillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic, and clavulanic acid is a medicine that prevents bacteria from inactivating the ticarcillin. Timentin is used mainly to treat infections caused by a type of bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Ticarcillin's antibiotic properties arise from its ability to prevent cross-linking of peptidoglycan during cell wall synthesis, when the bacteria tries to divide, causing cell death.

How to use Timentin ?

♦ Timentin is usually given as an injection at your doctor's office, hospital, or clinic. If you will be using Timentin at home, a health care provider will teach you how to use it. Be sure you understand how to use Timentin.

♦ Do not use Timentin if it contains particles, is cloudy or discolored, or if the vial is cracked or damaged.

♦ To clear up your infection completely, use Timentin for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days

If you miss a dose of Timentin, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.
