Moderately toxic by intravenous and intramuscular routes. Mildly toxic by ingestion and intraperitoneal routes. Human systemic effects by intravenous route: agranulocytosis. An experimental teratogen. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of SOx, NOx and Na2O.
