In this work, an experimental study for the determination of the density of two dipentaerythritol esters, dipentaerythritol hexapentanoate (DiPEC5) and dipentaerythritol hexaheptanoate (DiPEC7) has been performed for temperatures ranging from 283.15 K to 398.15 K and pressures up to 70 MPa. The ...
In recent years, layered double hydroxide (LDH) well-known as hydrotalcite-like compound has received considerable attention due to its potential technological applications such as antacid, anion-exchangers, stabilizers and reinforcing fillers for synthetic or natural organic polymers. On the ot...
The separation of 13 isomeric alkylphenols has been studied by high-performance liquid (HPLC), gas-liquid (GLC) and high-performance thin-layer chromatographic (HPTLC) techniques. It has been shown that the separation of isomeric alkylphenols is dependent upon the adsorption, the polarity of the...
Publisher SummaryThe chapter presents a schematic gas chromatography (GC) system. An inert carrier gas (for example, nitrogen) flows continuously from a high-pressure cylinder through the injection device, the column, and the detector. The flowrate of the carrier gas is carefully controlled to e...
The template synthesis of a new series of macrocycles (from monomers to tetramers) with 2,4.8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5.5]undecane units is reported. The structural analysis of the compounds is carried out using the data of high field NMR investigations, mass spectrometry studies (FAB, MALDI and ESI-MS...
A gas chromatographic method was developed, based on a reference standard, for analysis of the reactive diketene acetal 3,9-diethylidene-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5.5]undecane (DETOSU). The method is based on the conversion of DETOSU to 3,9-diethyl-3,9-dimethoxy-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5.5]undecane,...
The stereoscopic structures of 3,9-di(o-, m- and p-chlorophenyl)-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5.5]undecanes were elucidated via high-resolution 1D and 2D NMR techniques including 1H NMR, 13C NMR, DEPT, 1H-1H COSY, HSQC, and HMBC. Complete and accurate assignment of 1H and 13C spectral data, especially...
Networks based on poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-co-3,9-divinyl-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro [5.5]-undecane), synthesized through radical dispersion polymerization, were used as template for indomethacin (INN) as model drug. The copolymers were characterized by swelling studies at three pH values (2...
Poly(maleic anhydride-co-3,9-divinyl-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro [5.5] undecane), acquired through radical polymerization, was synthesized with the aim to prepare an alternant copolymer with precise placement of functional groups along the polymer backbones. The new structure owing to the suitable an...
The study is devoted to the preparation of a multi-membrane gel system based on poly(N,N-dimethyl-acrylamide-co-3,9-divinyl-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro (5.5) undecane) copolymer. The complex supra-structure was realized by layer by layer deposition technique, from the gel-core to the periphery by cro...
The radical emulsion copolymerization process between 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and 3,9-divinyl-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5.5]-undecane, an acetal-type crosslinking agent comonomer, it is presented. The conversion, polymerization rate, particle size and zeta potential were investigated. It was fo...
Owing to the special characteristics and abilities polymeric networks have received special interest for a range of biomedical applications especially for drug delivery systems. This study was devoted to preparation of new polymeric compounds based on maleic anhydride and 3,9-divinyl-2,4,8,10-te...
The approach of covalent conjugation for coupling synthetic polymers with biomolecules represents an appealing strategy to produce new compounds with distinctive properties for biomedical applications. In the present study we generated hybrid gels with tunable characteristics by using hyaluronic...
'Valmid' is a new short acting nonbarbiturate, namely, ethinylcydohexyl car- bamic acid ester. The hypnotic dose, acute toxicity, and duration of action have been observed in mice, rats, and dogs. The action of this compound has been observed in dogs, recording the blood pressure and r...
Results of an attempt to determine the extent of the ability of chlorpromazine under specific circumstances to potentiate the hypnotic activity of ethinamate are presented. These results are compared with those pertaining to the extent of the ability of chlorpromazine to enhance ethinamate toxicity.
Procedures for the identification of ethinamate, ethylchlorvynol, and methylparafynol by derivative formation are described. The acid catalyzed rearrangement of ethchlorvynol gave 3-ethyl-2-penten-4-ynal.
A double-blind study with ethinamate and a placebo was performed, with 114 patients receiving ethinamate and 98 receiving placebo. Ethinamate was judged by both operators and patients to be of definite value. The dosage of ethinamate used in the study was one tablet, 500 mg.
A double blind placebo controlled study of the hypnotic ethinamate was carried out in normals using simultaneous EEG and plasma level assessement. EEG ‘sleep scores’ were 3 times higher for drug than placebo and the peak plasma level preceded the maximum EEG score by 15 min.
A sensitive, specific GLC assay was developed for the determination of ethinamate in plasma and its major metabolite, trans-4-hydroxyethinamate, in urine. The assay uses a mass internal standard of dimethylethinamate. Ethinamate is extracted from alkalinized plasma with dichloromethane. Urine sa...
Cell-free extracts of Aerobacter aerogenes and Escherichia coli were chromatographed on DEAE-cellulose and the eluates examined for some of the enzymes concerned in the conversion of chorismic acid into phenylalanine and tyrosine. Enzymes which are able to convert chorismate into prephenate (cho...
