An efficient synthesis of methyl 2,3-anhydro-α-d-ribofuranoside is reported. Its preparation is achieved via a four-step sequence from methyl 2,3,5-tri-O-benzoyl-α-d-arabinofuranoside in 74% overall yield.
The emergence of multidrug resistance cell lines is one of the major obstacles in the success of cancer chemotherapeutic treatment. Therefore, it remains a big challenge the development of new and effective drugs to defeat cancer. The presence of nitrogen heterocycles in the architectural design...
The synthesis of two riboside-containing arsenic compounds, methyl-2,3-O-isopropylidene-5-dimethyl-arsinoyl-β-d-ribofuranoside and methyl-2,3-O-isopropylidene-5-deoxy-5-dimethyl-thioarsinoyl-β-d- ribofuranoside is presented in this paper. Intermediates and final products of the synthesis were ...
In the presence of Eu(fod)3, (1E)-(2′,3′,4′,6′-tetra-O-acetyl-β-d-glucopyranosyloxy)buta-1,3-diene and its (3Z)-4-O-acetyl derivative undergo Re-face and endo selective hetero Diels-Alder reactions with 4-nitrobenzaldehyde, 5-nitrofuran-2-carbaldehyde and 5-nitrothiophene-2-carbaldehyde. Th...
Ternary complexes of bivalent metal ions with 2,2′-bipyridyl and hydrogen phosphate, adenosine 5′-monophosphate, and adenosine 5′-triphosphate have been investigated by potentiometric titration and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry. Coordination of the phosphate compounds with 1:1 compl...
A series of sucrose monoesters and homogeneous or mixed diesters, which have various chain lengths and saturation levels, were prepared under Mitsunobu conditions with good regioselectivity. Among the anhydro derivatives arising from competitive intramolecular etherification, 3′,6′-anhydrosucr...
Various sugar phosphonates were prepared by a Mitsunobu condensation between phosphonic diacids and properly protected carbohydrates. 6′-O-p-Aminophenylsucrose 6-heptylphosphonate was coupled to Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) and Keyhole Limpet Hemocyanin (KLH) and the KLH conjugate was used for ge...
The study of the competition between formation, migration and hydrolysis of sucrose mono-esters and -carbonates confirmed that the pre-eminent reactivity of some secondary positions persists in aqueous medium, and in particular, OH-2, even though fast subsequent migrations finally enrich the mix...
A series of biorational glycol diesters were prepared which have similar characteristics as sugar esters. From 62 glycol diesters prepared, 35 compounds were active in the range of 1–10 mg/ml concentration in diet that inhibited larval growth of second instars of Spodoptera litura and Helicover...
In the context of the use of carbohydrates obtained from agricultural crops, the search for amphiphilic derivatives is one of the most developed aspects. Indeed, due to the high polarity and the functional richness of sugars, many different structures can be targeted, with a wide range of physic...
The fruit of Physalis peruviana is widely used in traditional Colombian medicine as an antidiabetic treatment. The aim of the study reported here was to identify the compounds responsible for the hypoglycemic activity using the α-amylase inhibition test. Bioguided fractionation of a dichloromet...
There is an unmet need for an optimal scaffold as cell transplantation carrier to induce corneal reconstruction. In this study, a blend membrane was prepared with carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCTS), gelatin, and hyaluronic acid. To investigate its cytocompatibility, primary rabbit corneal epithelial...
In this work, novel superporous composite cryogel using natural source such as carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and halloysite nanotubes (Hal nanotubes) was prepared. The composite was prepared via cryogelation method including the Hal nanotubes within polymeric matrices before cryogelation. A seri...
Aiming at producing surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor chips of improved performance, a novel approach for controlled immobilization of antibody (Ab) molecules has been developed through the implementation of surface functionalization and external vertical electric field (EVEF) assisted immo...
This review outlines the recent developments on carboxymethyl chitosan-based bio-medical applications. Carboxymethyl chitosan, a water soluble derivative of chitosan, with enhanced biological and physicochemical properties compared to chitosan, has emerged as a promising candidate for different ...
The aim of this study is to explore facile and large-scale method for the preparation of magnetic adsorbent materials with high-efficient heavy metal removal performance. Here, based on the process intensification of high-gravity technology, the carboxymethyl cellulose-immobilized Fe3O4 nanopart...
Intact carboxymethyl-hexanoyl chitosan/dodecyl sulfate nanoparticles loaded with pyrazoline H3TM04 were dispersed in biodegradable PEO-chitosan nanofiber mats (PEOChNps) for application in skin cancer treatment. The nanomaterial was formed by co-electrospinning in aqueous solution. The structura...
The treatment of dimethyl malonate with LHMDS in anhydrous THF (condensed-phase) generates, in addition to the expected corresponding lithium enolate, methyl formate anion (or methoxycarbonyl anion, −COOMe) which can react with several electrophiles to give corresponding methoxycarbonyl derivati...
Novel 3-hydroxy-3-phenylpropanoate ester–azidothymidine (AZT) conjugates have been prepared using Baylis–Hillman methodology, and their potential as dual-action HIV-1 Integrase and Reverse Transcriptase inhibitors has been explored using enzyme inhibition and computer modelling techniques; the...
Three new alkaloids, liparis alkaloid A (1), B (2), C (3), and three new phenolic glycosides, liparis glycoside H (4), I (5), J (6), together with three known phenolic glycosides (7–9) were isolated from the whole plant of Liparis odorata. Their structures were characterized on the basis of ext...
